KOCHI: The Enforcement Directorate will approach the court against the move to accuse the team investigating the gold smuggling case. An application will be filed in the Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court on Thursday or Friday clarifying the allegations and moves that undermine the credibility of the ED.
Since such moves cannot be prevented without the intervention of the court, the ED is applying to clarify the government’s moves so far. The Director General of Prosecutions had yesterday given legal advice to the state government that it could file a case against ED following the audio recording of Swapna that the ED had pressured her to testify against the Chief Minister in the gold smuggling case. Based on the statement of Swapna Suresh, the ED is also preparing to move against the government. The allegations began when the audio recording of Swapna came out that the ED had put pressure on the Chief Minister to give a statement.
Swapna has testified that the voice clip of her conversation with another person was on the instructions of a civil police officer in charge of her security. Swapna has said that there are people out there who can save her from the case and that the civil police officer has assured her that they will save her. The ED is approaching the court citing these statements.
The ED will ask the court to take action against the accused civil police officer and those involved in the conspiracy of the incident. The Kerala Police has deployed civil police officers to guard Swapna. The ED alleges that there was a conspiracy involved.
