KOCHI: Sources indicate Congress leader P C Chacko who resigned from Congress is likely to join the left front. Chacko might enter into the left front via NCP. As part of this, Chacko is expected to hold talks with NCP leader Sharad Pawar.
When Chacko has left Congress, NCP has immediately opened its door for him. A section of NCP leaders has tried to bring Chacko to the party fold from Kochi. Chacko has very close ties with NCP chief Sharad Pawar.
The national and state leaders of the party think that Chacko’s presence might give a new impetus to the party which is facing leadership issues. Congress leadership had suspected P C Chacko’s role in the recent split which occurred in NCP. Following this, he was criticized by senior Congress leaders in the political affairs meet held at Kochi. Even though NCP even decided to leave the left front over the Pala seat issue, party chief Sharad Pawar withdrew from the move at the last minute.
It was alleged that Sharad Pawar received the advice not to leave the left front from outside. The Congress leaders considered Chacko as the source of the advice and he was harshly criticized. Even after leaving Congress(S), Chacko had maintained the warm ties that he had with its leaders. Chacko and his accomplices had tried to bring the former leaders of Congress(S) recently.
