KOCHI: Film actor and Thrissur BJP candidate Suresh Gopi said that he was not interested in contesting polls and is abiding by the party’s decision as a disciplined party activist. The actor who was discharged from the hospital after undergoing treatment for fever and breathlessness, opened his mind to the media after the announcement of his candidature.

He said rest is needed. Only after taking the vaccine jab, I will start campaigning. I should first retain my health condition to take the vaccine.

My stand still is not to compete. I decided to compete after leaders forced me. The party had suggested four constituencies, but I told them I would contest wherever they asked me to. The Prime Minister wanted me to contest from Thrissur.

The chances of victory cannot be predicted now. I earlier fought for the Lok Sabha constituency including seven assembly constituencies. However, now contesting in one of the constituency.

Lathika Subhash is younger to me. I last saw my mother with short hair. I felt sad then. Not a single MP from Kerala can make a commotion in Parliament for 33 per cent reservation. Let the people assess my performance for the last five years as a Rajya Sabha MP, he said.
