KOTTAYAM: With the humiliating defeat on the legal tussle for Kerala Congress(M), Joseph group is planning for new moves. The faction is gearing up to register a new political party. Even though the registration procedures of the new party could not be completed, sources say the name of the party could be proclaimed.
Reports suggest that the name Kerala Congress will be there in the new party also. If the registration is not fulfilled before the polls, then candidates of the Joseph faction might have to contest under the symbol allocated to independent candidates.
Unregistered parties cannot ask for donations to their election funds. Therefore, chances are there for Joseph group to merge with some other parties. As the case on symbol and party was going on during the local body polls, Joseph faction received the ‘Chenda’ symbol. Supreme Court has ratified the poll panel’s decision to allocate the two-leaves symbol to Jose K Mani on Monday.
