ALAPPUZHA: Senior RSS leader R Balashankar has lashed out at the Kerala unit of the BJP. Balashankar said that the BJP has no chance of success in the state for the next 30 years if it goes ahead with the leadership that accepts a distorted outlook. Balashankar made the statement during a recent interview. Initially, BJP had considered Balashankar as its candidate in the Chengannur constituency. Later, BJP Alappuzha district president MV Gopakumar was declared the candidate.
According to Balashankar, he was avoided as part of a deal with the CPM. Claiming that he had the support of NSS, SNDP and Christian denominations, Balashankar added that he was likely to win in the election. "The NSS, which does not support the BJP in the constituency, had said that it would support me. Chengannur is my hometown. The BJP has about 30,000 votes here. When the party receives votes from other religious groups, there will be a chance of victory. However, the party has now ruled out such a possibility," Balashankar said.
