THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Electoral Officer Tikaram Meena sought a report on the voter list irregularities. Election officials in Kasaragod, Kozhikode, Alappuzha, Kollam and Thiruvananthapuram districts are required to submit reports. The action was taken on the complaint of the Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala.
In a press conference here today, Ramesh Chennithala had alleged that the name of a voter named Kumari had been added five times with the same address in Kasaragod Uduma constituency and that five electoral ID cards had been issued to Kumari using the same photo and address. However, the same voter had rejected the opposition leader's claim.
Kumari and her family, who said they are Congress supporters, said her name was added by local Congress activists, which put Congress themselves on the backfoot. Kumari responded that they are a pro-Congress family and only came to know about the problem now.
