KANNUR: K Sudhakaran has denied the rumors that he will be a candidate in Dharmadom. The Congress MP clarified that he will not contest in Dharmadom and the news to the contrary is baseless. He said the announcement of the candidate would be made soon and he did not know how the news of his candidature came about.

Sudhakaran said that the candidature of C Raghunath will be announced tomorrow. He explained that the decision to not support the mother of Walayar girls is after understanding the local sentiments.

In Dharmadom, the UDF was considering the name of G Devarajan, the national secretary of the Forward Bloc, the CM's constituency and the left stronghold. But Devarajan refused to take the seat. It was after this that the Congress considered supporting the mother of the Walayar girls.

DCC general secretary C Raghunath had taken a stand that if the UDF supports the mother of the Walayar girls, he will contest as a rebel.
