MALAPPURAM: BJP candidate K Surendran lost in Manjeshwar by meagre votes in the last assembly elections. Surendran lost to P B Abdul Razzaq of the Muslim League for just 89 votes. There is another person behind K Surendran’s failure and that is BSP candidate K Sundara.

The similarity in the name helped K Sundara to garner 467 votes. Sundara contested in ice cream symbol. The party workers assessed that the similarity in the name and symbol betrayed Surendran.

Sundara who was not in the fray last time is contesting again in Manjeshwar as BSP candidate. He has decided to become more active in electioneering unlike in the past.
