THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Yet another pre-poll survey has predicted the left government as favourites with the Mathrubhumi C-Voter survey being the latest. Most of the survey participants said that the performance of the Chief Minister was excellent. Most people are of the opinion that the welfare activities of the Government of Kerala, including free food kits and pensions, have benefited.
While 38.10% said that the performance of the Chief Minister was good, 37.2% opined it was average. 24.7 percent said that the performance of the Chief Minister was very poor. 53.9 per cent think that kits and pensions will be of great benefit in elections. 26.2 percent said it would benefit slightly. 18% said it will not help.
When asked if the government's development model KIIFB would benefit, 37.3 percent said it would. 37.1 percent responded that it would not benefit. 15.4 percent said it would not affect the election. 10.2 percent said they could not say.
The survey found that unemployment was the biggest issue affecting voters with 41.8 percent votes. 10.4 percent were affected by corruption and 4.8 percent by law and order issues.
Gold smuggling has been at the forefront of controversy affecting voting. 25.2 percent said the controversy influencing voting was gold smuggling. Among other controversies 20.2 percent cited the Sabarimala controversy, 13 percent the Covid response and 8 percent voted flood relief.
On the other hand, when asked whether Oommen Chandy's return was a success, 47.7% said it was a gain, 36.3% said no and 16% said they don't have an opinion. The survey, which was completed in 51 days, was attended by 14,913 people from 40 constituencies. The survey was conducted among people between the ages of 18 and 85.
