THRISSUR: CPM state secretariat member Baby John was shoved down at an LDF campaign venue attended by Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The incident took place during a function held at Thekkinkad ground. The attack took place shortly after the Chief Minister spoke and left the venue.

Baby John, who was delivering his speech, was pushed by a young man who came on stage. The dais also fell down. The violence took place while leaders, including Minister VS Sunilkumar, were on stage. Activists then forcibly removed the young man from the stage. Police said Shukur, a native of Chennappinni, assaulted Baby John. Police said they would file a case against him for attempted murder.

Baby John, who continued his speech even after the incident, challenged that if anyone wants to kill him can come to the stage.
