PALAKKAD: A youth was arrested with drugs worth Rs 2 crore smuggled in a private bus from Bangalore to Ernakulam. Suhail, 25, an IT worker from Pattambi was arrested. The excise team seized 120 grams of Methyl​enedioxy​methamphetamine (MDMA) from him.
The drugs were seized during a vehicle check on the Coimbatore-Palakkad highway. The excise team said that during the preliminary investigation, it was found that the accused had smuggled large quantities of drugs in the past. The drugs were brought for distribution at night parties and DJ parties in Ernakulam. This is the third MDMA case to be caught in a week. Palakkad Assistant Commissioner of Excise A Ramesh said that a clear indication has been received about the culprits behind the drug smuggling and further investigation will be intensified.
A team led by Palakkad AEC Squad Inspector KS Prasobh and Palakkad Excise Range Office Inspector H Vinu seized the drugs.
