Vamanapuram constituency in the capital is known as ‘red fort.’ since the formation of the constituency in 1965, it has chosen right-wing parties only two times. The left front’s journey which started in 1977 with N Vasudevan Pillai has reached up to D K Murali. This time also D K Murali is the LDF candidate. The other two VIPs in the constituency are UDF’s Aanadu Jayan and NDA’s Tazhava Sahadevan. D K Murali who has entered into the poll fray for the second time is confident about victory. He told Keralakaumudi online that the development activities implemented in the last five years will translate into votes and thus he can achieve a landslide victory this time also.
Unparalleled development activities
In the last five years, unparalleled development activities were implemented in the constituency. We were able to implement Rs 1,000 crores worth of development activities and most of them were completed on time. Some others have also received the administrative nod. Along with the development activities, the government’s achievements are also highlighted. The people know that gold smuggling scam is nothing but conspiracies to malign the government’s goodwill. The local body poll results indicate that.
Waste treatment plant in Palode
The issues associated with the establishment of the waste treatment plant at Palode will never affect LDF’s victory. Some are trying to create issues to reap political gains. It was the state government that was the main reason for not installing the plant at Palode and the people knew that as the failure of those who lead the protests in the local body polls indicate that.
Problems in party
Not only in Vamanapuram, there are no state-wide problems in the party. Party is fighting the polls in a united manner. Others are just baseless allegations. The issues which erupted in certain areas following the candidates’ list are just isolated incidents and the party will deal with such issues firmly. If anybody alleges that there are problems in the party and LDF and especially in Vamanapuram then they are just baseless allegations.
Contenders
I am not someone who ridicules the contenders. This time strong candidates have been fielded by BJP and UDF. The people know the truth. Look at Congress, it is marred by issues and problems since candidates were declared. Even the senior and influential leaders in the party are not cooperating with the poll campaign. Other constituent parties in UDF also equally dissatisfied. Thus, UDF is filled with problems. In such a situation, I don’t know on what basis does the UDF workers are saying that their candidate’s victory from the constituency is assured.
