KOTTAYAM: The Facebook post of rebel candidate Lathika Subhash, who is seeking public mandate from Ettumanoor, seeking financial help for the election campaign along with the vote request went viral with the Congress sympathizers come up with harsh criticism along with the offers of help. Lathika's campaign is on the pillion seat of an Enfield in order to cut costs.
The post goes like this
"I was heartbroken but shaved my head with a strong heart. Instead, the people in my place gave me the crown of love and solidarity. I decided to contest because I have faith in you, not as a candidate for a party or a front. I have financial difficulties. I want help. Every penny you give is for the marginalized and the female community."
A bank account number is given along with the post.
Comments
One comment is that no proud Congress worker will help you. Then another comment is that the real Congress workers will donate.
Lathika's words
"I did not intend to contest. I am contesting under the pressure of those who love me. Knowing that the savings are zero, the activists collected cash on the day the candidature was announced. One person offered Rs. 1 lakh for the election campaign. After posting on Facebook, I got around Rs 36,000 in my account. A number of Malayalees from Israel and informed me that they are transferring Rs 50,000. I cannot afford to do the election campaign on a vehicle. The response from the people has been positive, regardless of politics."
