THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Youth Congress has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission against BJP candidate and actor Krishnakumar who will be contesting from the Thiruvananthapuram Central constituency. In its complaint, the Youth Congress alleged that the BJP candidate's campaign board had a picture of the Padmanabhaswamy temple and that it was a violation of the code of conduct.
Campaign boards with the image of the Padmanabhaswamy temple have been set up at Muttathara and Valiyasala in Thiruvananthapuram. The picture of the temple can be seen on the top left of the board. The Election Commission has barred candidates from using religious symbols for campaigning.
Accusing Krishnakumar of violating election rules, the Youth Congress Thiruvananthapuram mandalam committee has asked the Election Commission to take action against the candidate and remove the boards. The BJP candidate has not commented on the issue.
