THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The collectors have directed to give election duty to many treasury employees though it has been suggested to avoid the treasury employees from the election duty so that their salaries can be paid before April 6. This raises the concern of whether all employees will be paid before the election.
State Chief Electoral Officer Tikaram Meena had directed that the treasury employees be exempted from election duty. But the employees of many treasuries have already been instructed on election duty. Almost all the employees of Kadakkavur and Parassala treasuries have been given election duties.
Bills for salaries from various government offices are due to be submitted through SPARC from the 25th of this month. But the information is that there are technical difficulties to process this in SPARC. Those who appear for election duty will not be at work on the 5th. April 1st and 2nd are bank holidays. On the 3rd there will be accounting in the banks. If the bills are received on time, the salary can be passed from the treasury on holidays as well. But the question is whether there will be employees at that time.
