KOTTAYAM: There is an attempt at the government level to sabotage the assembly elections, said former chief minister Oommen Chandy. The government had to admit all the allegations levelled by opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala in gold smuggling, Life Mission etc. The latest of these is the irregularities in double voting. The issue of double voting is very serious. The congress will go to any extent to stop double voting, he said.

‘The UDF will benefit from the excellence in election manifesto and selection of candidates. The situation in Puthuppally, Kottayam and all over Kerala is favourable for the UDF,’ he said.

The Marxist party has a double standard on Sabarimala issue. The government filed an affidavit against the customs and rituals. They rejoiced when the verdict came accordingly. They changed their stand when the devotees opposed. Their stand favouring the devotees is not sincere. If so, the affidavit filed against the rituals should be withdrawn. The attitude of the UDF when in power and now is that the rituals and customs should be protected
