KOCHI: The Kerala High Court will consider today Enforcement Directorate’s (ED) plea demanding cancellation of the crime branch case filed against the investigating officials in the gold smuggling case. The ED alleged in the plea that there is a political and bureaucratic conspiracy behind the case.

The ED mentioned in the plea that crime branch's preliminary inquiry is a farce, and they were not ready to record the statement of the ED officials and in this situation the FIR should be quashed.

The ED also requested that the case be referred to the CBI for an impartial inquiry. The crime branch registered a case based on cops’ revelation that ED officials forced Swapna Suresh to give statement against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the gold smuggling case.
