KANNUR: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has demanded strong action against officials concerned for the inclusion of fake voters in the voters’ list. “Whoever wins in Kerala, there will be only a difference of 1.5 lakh votes between LDF and UDF candidates. But in the present condition, there is 4.5 lakh of bogus voters in the list,” he said.

“For a transparent poll process, the bogus voters should be removed from the list. This practice which could sabotage the entire democracy should be stopped. Multiple fake voters under one voter in a constituency have been found in the voters’ list and even ID cards were also issued,” Ramesh Chennithala alleged.

“The law says that every voter in the country should have only one vote and one ID card but in all 140 constituencies, one lakh fake voters were added and this number could get higher,” he alleged.

“Even in Irrikur, 537 persons are fake voters in other constituencies. In the Azhikode constituency, 711 bogus votes have been added. In Cherthala, 1,205 bogus voters have been added. 387 from Kundara. Thus I have the statistics from each constituency,” he added. The opposition leader has also alleged that those officers who have allegiance towards LDF are involved in this scam.
