NEW DELHI: A crucial revelation has been made in the incident where a group of nuns including Malayalis were insulted on a train in Jhansi. The Jhansi Railway Superintendent said that ABVP activists who had returned after the study camp in Rishikesh were behind the incident. He further added that the allegations of conversion were baseless. The superintendent's revelation amid widespread protests over violence against nuns.
On March 19, four nuns were harassed during a train journey for alleged religious conversion. The nuns said the attempt was made during a trip to bring home two Odisha natives who were training as nuns. The two companions were not dressed in church attire because they were students. The attackers alleged that they were being taken away to convert. The students said they came from a Christian family, but the harassment went unheeded.
