THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan scoffed at AK Antony's statement that if the Left continues to rule, there will be total destruction in Kerala. In reply to Antony, the Chief Minister said that the popular base of the LDF had expanded and that the development and welfare activities of the government would pave the way for continuity of governance.
He was speaking in an interview with a channel.
There was an astonishing influx of people at LDF meetings. There is a huge excitement that has not been seen in any election before. The people have great affection for the government. In five years there has been great progress in various fields. The people are convinced that the government has done its best when catastrophic floods like Ockhi, Nipah and Covid hit the state.
What Antony said is what usually happens. After coming to power, a lord-like attitude comes with it. This is the specialty of the position one holds. We have no such experience. The government is for everyone. It is a government of winners and those who tried to defeat. Justice for all-that is how this government proceeded. That is why pride does not come. If you ask Antony personally about Pinarayi Vijayan, he will not be having this opinion. It is the style of the Congress to misrepresent certain things to the public. I never expected someone like Antony to say that as part of it.
I am a volunteer. I do not have great leadership skills or special skills. I know that myself. Our success is the success of the community. It is a victory for the cabinet and the LDF. There is no contribution of mine alone. We have not decided on whose next yet - Pinarayi Vijayan said.
Antony speaks in a special way. Just give it that much seriousness only. Pinarayi said that Antony's politics dates back to the liberation struggle.
"The LDF has a position on deep sea fishing. The coastal people are aware of the steps taken by the government whenever they witness coastal disasters. The deep-sea fishing controversy was deliberately created. There was a conspiracy between the opposition and the EMCC. The agreement was signed without the knowledge of even the department secretary".
"The government made good efforts to resolve the dispute of the churches. It all fell apart. The government has set clear conditions. There are no problems in Sabarimala now. Everything is going well", he added.
