THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The accused in the Venjaramoodu Sajeev murder case have been sentenced to life imprisonment. A fine was also imposed. Sanal, Unni and Mahesh were sentenced to life imprisonment. Unni and Sanal, both from Madapuram, are the second and third accused in the Venjaramoodu dual murder case which created a sensation. Thiruvananthapuram additional district sessions court five pronounced the verdict. The court had yesterday found them guilty.

The incident happened on January 13 in 2008. A girl, relative of the accused, eloped with a youth. A verbal dispute broke out between Sajeev’s brother and the accused over it. The accused who came to attack the victim’s brother beat Sajeev. Seriously injured Sajeev died the next day. Sajeev's father and brother were injured in the attack.

The Venjaramoodu double murder happened on the previous day of Onam last year. DYFI leaders Haqq Mohammad and Mithilaj were the two killed. Accused in the case including Unni and Sanal are presently in jail.
