postal-vote

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Postal voting for the elderly, the disabled and COVID patients started on Friday. However, voting was disrupted in some parts due to the non-availability of polling materials. At the same time, voting in many places went smoothly. Postal voting is open until April 2. Postal voting is the system where the polling officials go to the house of those who applied for postal vote to hand over the ballot so that they can register their votes. It was informed that special polling officers should go to their respective block offices for this. Officials were also trained on how to register to vote.

Ballots were not available in some regions including Karunagapally and Oachira block panchayats. The matter came to light when special polling officers arrived at the block offices yesterday morning. Chief Electoral Officer Teeka Ram Meena said that the polling materials would be delivered in these regions on Saturday

.

A team of five led by a special polling officer will reach the houses. Others include a polling assistant, a micro-observer, a police officer and a videographer. Representatives of the candidates will also be informed. Postal voting must be recorded in secret, as in booths. After the vote is recorded, the ballot paper is covered and sealed in front of the voter.
