DHAKA: Prime Minister Narendra Modi embarked on the second day of his Bangladesh visit by offering prayers at Jeshoreshwari Kali Temple in Ishwaripur, Satkhira district on Saturday. He is also scheduled to visit the Orkandi temple in Gopalganj. The Prime Minister, who had the jam-packed first-day of Bangladesh's visit, will fly off to Ishwaripur village today and offer puja at the Jeshoreshwari Kali Temple, which is one of the 51 Shakti Peeths, scattered across India and neighbouring countries.
PM Modi will also visit the 'Mausoleum of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman' in Tungipara of Gopalganj district. The Prime Minister arrived here on Friday on the two-day visit to Bangladesh and attended the 50th birthday celebration of the country in Dhaka in the presence of Bangladesh PM Sheikh Hasina. This is his first visit to a foreign country since the Covid-19 pandemic broke out last year.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday said that the government of India will construct a multi-purpose community hall at Jeshoreshwari Kali Temple in Ishwaripur, Bangladesh. "When Maa Kaali mela is held here, large devotees come from across the border (India) and here. A community hall is needed which should be multi-purpose so that when people come here during Kaali puja, it is useful to them too," he said. "It should be useful even for social, religious & educational events. Most importantly, it should act as a shelter for all at the time of disasters like a cyclone. GoI will do construction work. I express gratitude to Bangladesh Govt that they have wished us well for this," the PM added.
