THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has said that it is the chief minister who is blocking the distribution of food kits. He was responding to the allegation raised by the chief minister that the opposition leader is trying to create a blockade in the distribution of food kits and welfare pensions to the people.
“After hoarding the rice which was meant to be distributed among the people earlier, the chief minister is distributing it during the election period. Thus, he trying to sell the people’s poverty for their votes. It was meant for fooling the people in the state. Why did the rice was not distributed earlier? Why it was hoarded for two to three weeks, instead of not distributing it on time? The rice kits which were to be distributed in the period between September to March were hoarded by this chief minister,” The opposition leader said.
“It was UDF that gave Onam kits for the first time in the state. Now, when the government has no achievements to show to the people, distributing the pre-hoarded rice kits is nothing but a clear violation of the model code of conduct. The chief minister is misusing his power through every possible means. The kits which need to be distributed for Vishu are going to be distributed early. Is there any problem if the kits are distributed after April 6?” he asked.
In the press meet held on Saturday morning, the chief minister has lashed out at opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala. The chief minister even criticized him saying that the opposition leader who took the stand to block the pension and food kits given to people, has become the strongest spokesman of the BJP government in the center.
