KOLKATA: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Saturday accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of violating the Election Commission's model code of conduct by addressing people of Bangladesh during his visit to the country.

According to Mamata, Modi violated the code of conduct by speaking about Bengal in Bangladesh while the election was progressing in Bengal.

"When a Bangladeshi actor attended a Trinamool Congress rally during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP had cancelled his visa by contacting the Bangladesh government. But bow, the elections are underway here and the Prime Minister goes to Bangladesh and lectures on Bengal. Why Modi's visa was not cancelled? It is a total violation of the code of conduct of the election," Mamata said.
