THRIKKAKARA: Five days after 13-year-old Vaiga's body was found in Muttar river, her father Sanu Mohan's car was caught on camera in Coimbatore. The picture was taken by a camera on the Coimbatore-Ooty National Highway.
Vaiga's body was found in the Muttar river near Manjummal glass colony on Monday afternoon. Sanu's KL-7-CQ-8571 Volkswagen car was found to have crossed the Walayar check post. A four-member team, led by SI Rafique, reached Tamil Nadu and checked the CCTVs on the main roads in Coimbatore with the help of the local police. Sanu is accused in several check cases, including in
Pune.
Police have found that Sanu's claim that he had a fixed deposit of Rs 40 lakh in the bank was a lie. Sanu had accounts at Catholic Syrian Bank Kangarappadi and State Bank of India Kakkanad branches. It is learnt that he did not have at least Rs 1000 as bank balance.
Investigators found that Sanu had recently pawned huge sums of gold in private banks. It is being investigated whether the gold belonged to his wife or friends. Sanu had also taken loans from about 15 people, including five from his flat in Thrikkakara.
