CHALAKKUDY: A CPM activist was beaten to death at Kanjirappilly Munipara over a road dispute. Davis, 58, of Kalathil House is the deceased. The incident took place at around 6 am on Saturday in a field near Davis' home. Davis, who had come to collect grass in the field, was thrashed by a group of four and beaten with a stick. He was rushed to Chalakudy Taluk Hospital and was later shifted to Aluva Rajagiri Hospital with serious internal injuries but save his life could not be saved. CPI activists are said to be behind the attack. Four suspects were taken into custody from Munambam.
About a month ago, Davis had an argument with one of the accused, Shijith, and in the ensuing altercation, Davis broke Shijith's leg.
