KOCHI: The High Court has directed that a rational decision should be taken within six months on the complaint that Anwar MLA and his family members have surplus land. Justice Raja Vijayaraghavan instructed Thamarassery Taluk Additional Tehsildar and the Taluk Land Board on the petition filed by Malappuram native KV Shaji who alleged that the acquisition of surplus land was being delayed.
The State Land Board, which sought a report from the Kozhikode and Malappuram District Collectors on the complaint against Anwar, had directed the Taluk Land Board to file a case under the Land Reforms Act. The petitioner alleged that no further action was taken against Anwar and that the proceedings against him were delayed as he was a highly influential person.
