KANNUR: It has been alleged that CPM loyalist booth level officer, presiding officer and returning officers in Mundayamparambil in Peravoor constituency jointly attempted to sabotage postal votes. UDF candidate Sunny Joseph has lodged a complaint with the chief election commissioner, returning officer and Kannur District Collector seeking action in the incident.

UDF candidate Sunny Joseph, KPCC secretary Chandran Thillankeri, Ayyankunnu panchayat president Kuriachan Paimpallikunnel, Jason Thomas, Manoj M Kandathil and Mini Viswanathan reached near the officers visiting voters for postal voting following information that officials and many including BLO are conducting postal voting without informing UDF polling agents. A verbal dispute broke out between the MLA and election officers.

Only the presiding officer and the cameraman who came to videograph the proceedings had the identity card with the photo. One of the returning officers had only his name in the identity card. The other did not have either his name or photo in the ID card. The UDF alleged that this is proof of attempted anomalies in postal voting.
