THRISSUR: It has been decided to conduct this year’s Thrissur pooram. The final decision to conduct the signature temple festival of Kerala was taken in the emergency meeting held under the leadership of the district collector. The meeting has decided to allow all customs observed for the pooram without any restriction or change. There will be no restriction on the participation of people also. All sub poorams from the eight constituent temples of Thrissur Vadakkumnathan temple will take place.
The usual number of 15 elephants will take part in the pooram procession and all fireworks will be conducted as usual. The exhibition conducted as part of the pooram will also take place this time. The pooram will be conducted as per the covid 19 protocol. Only those who have worn masks will be allowed inside the pooram ground. For the past few days, uncertainty was looming around regarding the conduct of Thrissur pooram.
Earlier, the decision of the district administration to regulate the number of people for the pooram exhibition has earned the wrath of the public. The authorities said that only 200 people will be allowed to enter the exhibition hall. Considering the wide-spread protests and condemnation of the people over the decision, the district administration once again convened a meeting under the aegis of the district collector. The authorities estimate that five lakh people will turn up to witness the pooram.
