KOLLAM: Kollam diocese of Kerala Latin Church has again lashed out at the chief minister. Even when his fake mask is revealed to the public, the chief minister is repeating lies. The Chief Minister’s statement against the bishop is baseless and immature. The stand of the chief minister and fisheries minister on the issue amounts to insulting the democratic process in the country. “Both of them should apologise to the church believers,” the commission of believers said.
In the pastoral letter, issued in the Latin Catholic churches, it was alleged that the government is trying to destroy the fisheries sector and to sell Kerala's coastal resources to monopolies. The chief minister who rejected the pastoral letter said that the church must reevaluate the allegations raised by the opposition on the issue, otherwise, the authenticity of the pastoral letter will be questioned.
Whereas fisheries minister Mercykutty Amma responded that the pastoral letter was issued with political intentions. Why should the church say this for UDF? The church is misinterpreting the fisheries policy of the state government without any basis. The minister also added that the church should reveal for whom they have issued the pastoral letter and it is expected that the church will rectify the ‘errors’ in the pastoral letter.
