KOCHI: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala’s plea in high court demanding the freezing of double votes will be taken up on Wednesday. In the plea he said that there are more than 4,30,000 double votes in the state and action should be taken against the officials who helped to create a list of double voters.
He has also alleged in the plea that despite giving multiple complaints to the poll panel, he had not received any answer. High court has also said earlier that it is illegal to repeat names of existing voters in the list.
Meanwhile, the poll panel has informed that court that there are only 38, 586 double votes in the state. The election commission has also said that it has the responsibility to maintain the sanctity of the election process and it will be carried out in a transparent and impartial manner. Meanwhile it has also told the high court that it is impossible to change the voters list now.
