THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala has responded to the CPM's allegations that the personal data of voters were leaked to a foreign company by publishing the information from its IP address registered in Singapore. Claiming that information related to voter ID is accessible to anyone on the Election Commission's website, Chennithala said that 'Operationtwins' only downloaded and codified it. Chennithala also thanked the CPM for bringing back the serious issue of data leakage during the last phase of the election campaign.
Chennithala scoffed that it was a pity that even the declared intellectuals of the CPM did not know what sensitive personal data was and what was not. 'The UDF activists only carried out data analytics by taking information published by the Election Commission, which was available on the internet and accessible to anyone from anywhere in the world. It's interesting to hear that this was an invasion of data privacy,' Chennithala wrote on his Facebook page.
