ALAPPUZHA: Opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala came forward with allegations of massive corruption in the state's electricity market. He alleged that the KSEB signed a 25-year contract worth Rs 8,850 crore to buy power from Adani. This is a scam joining hands with BJP. He said the people of the state will be looted for the next 25 years and through this Adani will get a profit of Rs 1,000 crore.
‘The price of electricity is falling globally. A heavy price is paid for the contract made for a long period. The power consumers of the state will have to pay Adani nearly Rs one per unit. The question is why the agreement was made to buy power for a higher price from Adani when it can be obtained at a lower price from small hydropower projects and solar sector. The centre and the state are responsible for this agreement,’ Chennithala said.
‘The state government had preached and protested against the privatization of the Thiruvananthapuram airport. They then secretly helped the Adani Group through backdoor. The state took a favourable decision when centre called tender for Adani. Everyone knows the relationship between Modi and Adani. Some central government firms are in the hands of Adani. Finally, Modi has given airports including Thiruvananthapuram to Adani. This shows Pinarayi’s Adani love. It is now clear why the central agencies are slowing in the gold and dollar smuggling cases. Chennithala alleged that the deal, which cost the government crores of rupees, shows that not only Nitin Gadkari but also Modi-Adani, a close friend of Modi who is stronger than Pinarayi's mediator Gadkari, is helping Pinarayi in matters like the Lavalin case,’ alleged Chennithala.
The government led by Pinarayi is the most corrupt in the history of Kerala, said Chennithala. The chief minister is the head of corruption. Opposition leader demanded a judicial inquiry into the matter as it was clear that the catastrophic floods the destroyed Kerala was man-made.
