THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Election Commission has suggested that celebration shouldn't be held for the culmination of the election campaign should not be in the context of Covid. The commission said that such celebrations involving gatherings should not be allowed and the police would file a case if the restrictions were violated.
The decision was taken considering the Covid situation in the state. The Election Commission said the Covid guidelines should be strictly adhered to. The Election Commission had also banned the celebrations during the recent elections to the local bodies.
The culmination bash of the campaign is scheduled for Sunday, the last day of the Assembly election campaign. But with the Election Commission banning it, it is expected that political parties will move towards a house-to-house campaign instead of a celebratory climax.
