Senior CPM leader P Jayarajan has again responded on the campaign controversy on calling Pinarayi Vijayan as ‘Captain.’ Jayarajan has said earlier that communists do not get lured by individual worship. The people’s surety is on the party and the left front and not on certain individuals. But as it was considered as a ‘secret attack’ on Pinarayi by a section of party leaders, the Kannur district secretary has again come up with a Facebook post.

Now he has called Pinarayi as team leader. He had also added that the candidates’ list was prepared by the state leadership which also involves him.

LDF has engaged in this electoral fight with a united spirit. In all 140 constituencies, LDF has fielded popular and efficient candidates.

Pinarayi is the team leader of that. Pinarayi has fulfilled almost all promises given to the people in the poll manisfesto and has successfully overcome all kinds of crises faced by his regime in the past five years. The people have therefore realised the mean tactics used by UDF and the centre to corner him.

Naturally, people will show love and affection towards Pinarayi. There is no use if somebody shows intolerance to it. The basis for yesterday’s reaction was that.

K Sudhakaran has earlier said that the party has sidelined him and people are dissatisfied. Sudhakaran has also expressed his disappointment over the candidates’ list of Congress. Therefore there is no need to impose it on somebody else’s shoulders.

The candidates’ list of CPI(M) was recognised on the basis of certain pre-approved guidelines and I am a part of every political decision. On that basis, every one of us is working to get another term for the LDF government. Under Pinarayi’s leadership, LDF will come back to power.

“As all media outlets including the right-wing media have predicted another term for the LDF government, now certain corners are trying to create an impression that there are internal problems in our party and thus to break our collective unity. This will not succeed,” he said.
