NEW DELHI: A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court seeking the postponement of the hearing of the Lavalin case. The court is scheduled to hear the case on Tuesday. It was A Francis, who was acquitted by the High Court in the case, who approached the Supreme Court with the application. The petitioner sought time to submit more documents.

The Lavalin case was listed as the fourth on the bench headed by Justice UU Lalit in Court No.4.The apex court is hearing appeals filed by the CBI against the acquittal of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan and other accused, and the appeals filed by Kasturiranga Iyer and R Sivadasan Nair against the verdict directing them to face trial, and the petition by Congress leader VM Sudheeran. It was postponed several times as the CBI asked for more time. Earlier, Justice UU Lalit had said the court would intervene only if there was strong evidence in a case where the trial court and the high court have made the same decision.
