THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kerala is worried about the second wave of COVID-19. The health experts warn that Kerala is likely to witness 10,000 cases per day. The next three weeks would be crucial for Kerala. There are also concerns that the test positivity rates may also rise.

4553 Covid cases were reported in the state yesterday. Test positivity rates also have risen. The test positivity rate was 6.81 per cent yesterday. If the test positive rate goes above 5%, it is a sign of an increase in the transmission of the disease. As part of preventing the spread of the disease, the department of health has recommended strengthening curbs to combat the disease.

Those with symptoms should be tested immediately. If the antigen test is negative, an RTPCR test should also be performed. Instructions have been given to set up more medical facilities in hospitals.

District administrations have also given permission to declare containment areas if the spread of the disease is detected. Tests have been tightened on compliance with Covid guidelines such as masks, social distances and sanitizers in public places.
