KUTHUPARAMBA: The State Human Rights Commission has registered a case in the suicide of a bank employee in Kannur. The commission registered the case voluntarily on the basis of media reports that the cause of the suicide was mental stress related to working in a bank. The commission has directed to investigate and report on the circumstances under which employees commit suicide as a result of pressure from banks. KS Swapna, the manager of Canara Bank's Thokkilangadi branch, was found hanging inside the bank on Friday.
Canara Bank Kerala Circle chief general manager should submit a report after conducting a detailed investigation into the circumstances under which the employee had to commit suicide. Canara Bank regional manager should also submit a report. The commission also asked the State Level Bankers' Committee convener (SLBC) to submit a report within four weeks after examining the pressure on employees of various banks in the state.
