THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A youth has been arrested for sexually abusing a minor girl and making her pregnant. The girl's relative, a 22-year-old resident of Karimancode Uralikonam was arrested.

The girl, a relative of the accused, had been staying at the house of the accused for two months for study purposes. The girl was admitted to the Community Health Center after feeling unwell and was later taken to the Nedumangad Taluk Hospital. Subsequent examination revealed that the girl was pregnant.

The hospital authorities informed the Palode police about the incident. The girl's statement was recorded and a case was registered under the POCSO Act. The accused was arrested, produced in the Nedumangad court and remanded.
