KOZHIKODE: The vigilance registered a case against K M Shaji MLA for amassing assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. A special unit of the vigilance team is conducting a raid at his houses in Kozhikode and Kannur.

The raid started Monday early morning. Kannur block panchayat president Padmanabhan had lodged a complaint with the vigilance that Shaji accepted Rs 25 lakh for sanctioning plus two in a school in Azheekode constituency.

A preliminary investigation was started against Shaji in November. The enforcement directorate had also conducted a probe to find the source of his income.
