THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the wake of second wave of COVID-19, it is dangerous to have large crowds for Thrissur Pooram, said Health Minister K K Shailaja. Should think whether it can be performed symbolically as how pongala was done. The devaswom board should take a decision on it through talks, she said.

Meantime, the minister said shortage of Covid vaccine in the state is going to be a serious problem and with the onset of mass vaccination, less availability has been severe, she said. In many areas, the stock is available for only two days, she said.

‘Not saying the vaccine is not available at all. We need to ensure availability and then send it abroad. We have written to the centre for more vaccines,’ said Shailaja. The health minister said this while speaking to a private channel.
