THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: More restrictions have been intensified in the state. The decision was taken at the high level meeting convened by the chief minister. Only 50 to 100 people are allowed to attend public programmes. Admission to malls requires a negative certificate after RTPCR testing. Those who have taken two doses of the vaccine can enter malls.

A decision has been taken to conduct Covid testing to 2.5 lakh people tomorrow and the day after. Ernakulam is one of the districts reporting the highest number of cases daily after conducting more tests. A decision has been taken to undergo testing for 30,900 people in two days. In mass testing, priority will be given to those engaged in electioneering and election duty.

It was also decided at the online meeting chaired by the chief minister to demand more vaccines from centre. Mega vaccination camps will be expanded once the vaccine is available. A decision has been taken to vaccinate up to 2.5 lakh people a day.

More beds will be arranged in intensive care units of hospitals in the state. District collectors have already been given permission to declare 144 at the local level. In addition, there are plans to tighten restrictions in public spaces with the help of the police and sectoral magistrates.

More mass vaccine distribution centres will be set up from April 19 onwards. Supply of vaccine will be made faster. This will be executed in wards with the help of local bodies.
