KOCHI: Sanjay Jith, the main accused and RSS activist in the murder of the 15-year-old boy identified as Abhimanyu of Padayanivattom in Alappuzha, surrendered before the police. The 21-year-old surrendered Friday morning at the Palarivattom Station. The Vallikunnam police had yesterday taken his father and brother into custody for questioning. Police indicate that it was Sanjay Jith, who stabbed Abhimanyu.

Abhimanyu was killed when he came to see the temple festival at Padayanivattom on Vishu Day. Police said a team led by Sanjay Jith unleashed violence when they came in search of Abhimanyu’s brother Ananthu, a DYFI activist. The incident happened at 9.30 pm on the day of Vishu.

The body of Abhimanyu handed over to his relatives after the post mortem at Alappuzha Medical College is kept in a private hospital in Ochira. He will be cremated this afternoon at 2 pm.
