KOCHI: A petition has been filed in the High Court seeking a lockdown in the state on May 2, the day of the counting of votes for the Assembly polls. The petition calls for a lockdown from midnight on May 1 to midnight on May 2. The petition was filed citing the spread of COVID-19 in the state. The court, which received the petition on file, has sought a response from the state government in the matter.
The court also directed that the Election Commission must be added as a party to the case. The case will be considered on Tuesday. The petition was filed by Adv. Vimal Mathew Thomas.
