THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: With the spike in cases in Kerala following the second wave of the pandemic, Tamil Nadu has closed down 12 bylanes to Thiruvananthapuram. Tamil Nadu police have put blockades in 12 bylanes between Vellarada and Parassala which leads to border areas between Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Roads in Pozhiyur and Uchakada in Kulathoor Panchayat, By lanes in Kannuvamoodu, Panachumoodu, Vellarada, Amboori near Karakonnam has been closed down. Roads from Kanyakumari to Thiruvananthapuram has also been closed. Police have also informed that those who have E-pass can travel through Kalayikkavilla national highway.

State chief secretary V P Joy has told that he will inform the closure of roads to Tamil Nadu’s chief secretary. The covid negative certificate should be shown to authorities in checkpoints before entering Tamil Nadu. During the first wave of the pandemic also, Tamil Nadu has closed down the roads to Thiruvananthapuram.

In the wake of the rapid spread of the pandemic in Kerala, Tamil Nadu has decided to put bars on travellers from Kerala entering into the state. Tamil Nadu says that the roads were closed to prevent the entry of people into the state without undergoing the covid tests.

Meanwhile, in Kerala, the process of strict implementation of covid 19 regulations has been going on. The public programmes to be conducted in the next two weeks should be informed to district authorities in advance. Only 150 persons are allowed to participate in public programmes. Since today morning, the footfall in malls has gone down. Hotels have enhanced the home delivery facilities. The ongoing restrictions in theatres and bars will continue.
