THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state confirmed 13,835 COVID-19 cases on Saturday, Health Minister KK Shailaja said.
Among these, 12,499 persons developed the disease through contact including 1019 cases without an identified source of infection. 259 persons, who came from outside the state, tested positive for the virus. 58 health workers contracted the disease on Saturday.
3654 patients tested negative for the virus today. As of now, there are 80,019 active cases in the state.
The state confirmed 27 deaths due to the virus on Saturday with the toll rising to 4904.

As part of the mass testing, 1,35,159 samples were collected on Friday from different parts of the state. 81,211 samples were tested in the last 24 hours. The test positivity rate stands at 17.04.
With the addition of 18 new regions and the removal of 1, there are 452 hotspots in the state.
