THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Cultural activists have written to the government asking it to postpone the Thrissur Pooram in the wake of the COVID outbreak. The letter was submitted by KG Sankara Pillai, Vaisakhan, Kalpatta Narayanan and K Venu. The letter was signed by 34 cultural activists.
The letter states that it is not practical to organise the Pooram in compliance with the restrictions. While requesting the government and the Pooram organisers to postpone the festival, the cultural activists stated that it will be inappropriate to organise the Pooram in the Thrissur district where COVID cases are on the rise.
Earlier, the Paramekkavu Devaswom had come out against the imposition of more restrictions on those taking part in the Pooram.
