KOCHI: Ramesh, who teaches English fluently in Oxford pronunciation, is just a class seven dropout and a karate expert. In other words, it was karate that turned this class 7 dropout into an English scholar.
"If I can do it, why can't you ...? The human brain has the ability to handle 40 languages ... '' These words of Ramesh will boost the confidence of English learners.
Ramesh is a teacher who has helped thousands of people, including officials and professionals, in mastering the English language. He runs the English Academy at Palarivattom in Ernakulam.
During his school days, Ramesh wasn't particularly fond of the learning methods in his school. His mother died during the holidays after the Class 7 annual examination. He did not return to school after that. His father did not force him to go back to school. Later, he took up small jobs such as brick making, sand mining, building construction to goldsmithing to earn an income. In the meantime, Ramesh made sure that did not give up his reading habit and karate training. When his grades in Karate increased, he became a Karate teacher.
He realised the importance of learning English when he went to teach karate in CBSE schools, clubs and flats in Kochi. So he joined the English Academy of Edison Francis in Kochi. Ramesh became an accomplished student within no time and was later hired by Edison as his apprentice for 4 years. After excelling in the English language, Ramesh established his own academy at Palarivattom in 2008.
Twelve years later, he has taught more than 5,000 people. Anyone with an average knowledge of English will be taught to read, write and speak the language fluently in just 35 days.
Ramesh is the son of Velayudhan and the late Kutty in Neduvannur. His wife Sreeja is also a teacher at the English Academy.
