KOCHI: When police were on the lookout for Sanu in the entire state, the latest information from sources say that his WhatsApp was active on Saturday. From March 2nd onwards, when Sanu Mohan was found missing from Alappuzha his phone was switched off. The probe team thinks that it was done deliberately so that the police cannot trace his location.
Meanwhile, the question of why he activated his WhatsApp account on Saturday has risen from different corners. Sources close to Sanu say that he might have opened the Whatsapp account to get into the police custody whereas some allege that Sanu might have gone into police custody a day early.
If the contention of Kerala police that Sanu was caught with the help of the Karnataka police, then the state police might have to answer why its cyber cell was not able to find the location of Sanu’s phone. Even after activating the Whatsapp account, if the cyber cell has not located the phone, then it would be considered as a severe lapse on their part. Whereas certain sources among the police also claim that it is a mere possibility.
Police might have taken Sanu in custody a day early. The probe team might have publicised the news of nabbing Sanu Mohan a day after interrogation, for collecting information. If that is the case, then he might have activated whatsapp while in custody.
